Te Heru Māpara

Brand Identity

Back

A brand identity built on the ambitions
of the people it serves.

Formerly known as ‘Feats Ltd’, Te Heru Māpara has been a cornerstone of vocational education in Taranaki for over 30 years, offering zero-fee programmes that provide practical, whānau-centred alternatives for those seeking to upskill, change direction, or find a new path in education.

In December 2021, the organisation entered a new era under the stewardship of Te Kāhui Maru Trust, further strengthening its ties to the community and reaffirming its commitment to empowering individuals through education.

The name Te Heru Māpara embodies layers of cultural significance.

Heru – the traditional comb, symbolizes pride, status, and personal transformation.
Māpara – the heartwood of the tree, represents strength, resilience, and the enduring pursuit of practical knowledge.

Together, the name reflects a foundation of cultural integrity and the vocational growth it supports.

The visual identity is bold and purposeful. The comb-tooth forms suggest upward pathways — each one a poutama step of personal and professional development. The height and structure of the mark acknowledges the significance of maunga and the sheltering presence of the whare. It is both grounded and aspirational — a beacon for those seeking opportunity.

This brand identity honours the collective ambitions of learners, whānau, and community. It celebrates place and people, drawing inspiration from the natural strength of our rākau Māori and the resilience found in te Taiao.

Ngā mihi nui ki te whānau o Te Heru Māpara, Te Kāhui Maru Trust, Mana Whenua and all who contributed to this kaupapa.
